How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can help whether you’re facing a specific challenge—such as trauma, anxiety, or grief—or simply feel that something isn’t quite aligned in your life. It’s not about having something “wrong” with you, but about giving yourself the time and space to explore, heal, and grow.
Do you work with couples?
Yes, I offer couples counselling to support relationships facing communication issues, intimacy challenges, or trust concerns. Many couples find that therapy helps them reconnect, rebuild trust, and understand each other on a deeper level.
Can I do EMDR remotely and is remote EMDR effective?
Yes, remote EMDR is both possible and effective.
Multiple research studies have shown that EMDR therapy can be successfully delivered online via video conferencing platforms. The COVID-19 pandemic led to widespread adoption of remote EMDR delivery, with many therapists and clients finding it to be a safe and effective alternative to in-person sessions.
Benefits of remote EMDR include:
-
Greater accessibility for those with mobility issues, childcare responsibilities, or living in remote areas
-
Clients feel more in control and comfortable in their environment
-
No travel time or transportation costs
-
Continued access during pandemic restrictions or lockdowns
What happens during a first session?
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, what you hope to achieve, and how we might work together. You’re free to ask questions, share as much or as little as you feel comfortable, and get a feel for whether I’m the right therapist for you.
How long will I need therapy for?
The number of sessions varies from person to person. Some clients come for short-term therapy (6–12 sessions) to focus on a specific issue, while others prefer longer-term support. We’ll review your progress together and decide what feels right for you.
Do you offer online therapy?
Yes, I work with clients online via secure video sessions. This can be ideal if you have a busy schedule, travel frequently, or live outside Brighton and Hove. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person therapy for many clients.
Is therapy confidential?
Absolutely. Everything you share with me remains confidential, except in rare cases where there is a legal or safety requirement to share information (for example, if there is a serious risk of harm). I’ll explain confidentiality in more detail during our first session.
How do I book a session?
You can get in touch via the contact page or email me directly to arrange a session. I’ll respond as soon as possible with my availability and answer any questions you have.
Do I need a GP referral?
No, you don’t need a referral to start therapy with me. You can contact me directly to arrange sessions whenever you feel ready.
What if I’m nervous about starting therapy?
It’s completely natural to feel nervous or uncertain—many clients do at first. Part of my role is to create a safe, warm, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your feelings at your own pace.
Can I try just one session?
Yes. You’re welcome to book an initial session to see how you feel. There’s no obligation to continue if it doesn’t feel like the right fit for you.
What if I have more questions?
I’m always happy to answer any questions you have. Please feel free to reach out via my contact page, and I’ll respond as soon as I can.
